Scotland's Digital Storytellers: From Rural to Global

Part of Wigtown Book Festival.

Who are the new voices telling the world about rural Scotland?

This session brings together two of Scotland's most dynamic digital storytellers - creators using online platforms to share contemporary life in rural Scotland with the world.

Living in the Cairngorms National Park, Molly Doubleday (Hippy Highland Living) is a writer and filmmaker whose tiny house adventure and passion for slow living inspire others to seek their own unique path to happiness, while offering an intimate glimpse into everyday life in rural Scotland.

Robert Parker, a writer, content creator and tour guide, is on a mission to uncover Scotland's hidden past, stories and scenery, giving his audience on Scotland Unplugged a vivid window into the country’s landscapes and culture.

In conversation with author and filmmaker Jessica Fox, Molly and Robert reflect on the rise of their platforms and how storytelling rooted in place and community can resonate far beyond Scotland's borders.

This session explores how new voices are shaping narratives from the ground up - connecting hyperlocal experience with global audiences - and what that could mean for the future of cultural storytelling.
